Year 6 art and maths shape topic

Mr McLean’s maths group have spent this half term learning about the properties of 2D and 3D shapes. They have been:

  • solving logic problems,
  • writing computer programs,
  • looking at art,
  • drawing,
  • using origami,
  • measuring lengths and angles,
  • using protractors and compasses,
  • making 3D models,
  • completing jigsaws and
  • calculating missing angles, volumes, surface areas, perimeters and areas.

In the photo, you can see some of the work they have completed which is on display just outside the classroom. They have all enjoyed the topic, produced some fantastic pieces of work and learnt all about shapes while having fun, investigating and working collaboratively. After Christmas, we will be moving on to graphs, charts and algebra-which will be just as creative and colourful.
