On Monday the bells were ringing out to say it’s Christmas time because over the weekend Mr Ramsay, the site manager decked the halls, lit the lights and rocked around the Christmas tree to transform school outside of school into a twinkling, glittery, tinsel-filled celebration of Christmas.
Then, over the course of the week, the teachers and the children have been working hard to make the inside of the school look just as festive making decorations, putting finishing touchers to Christmas craft and decorating trees and putting up decorations in every room.
Mrs. Land has gone the extra mile. Not happy with the choice of trees on offer, she (and the children in her class) have been making their own version of the Christmas tree using plenty of wood (which they have turned into pom-pom baubles), some festive lights and twigs and sticks gathered from Forest School to produce the Christmas Tree which you can see on the blog…
We are trying to make Christmas as normal as possible by decorating the classrooms, making Christmas crafts, having socially distanced class parties and are also preparing for a Carols around the Tree type of event, where every class is learning a few Christmas songs which we will record and upload on to the school website for you to enjoy.
Teachers will be asking the children to wear Christmas jumpers to school over the next few weeks so they are in the festive spirit when they record their songs so please watch out for a text message with a date when the teacher will record their class songs.
Mrs Rew registered for Young Voices 2021 as soon as registration opened after the concert back in January! Then, with everything going on, we were unsure what would happen with Young Voices but they have come up with a plan B!
Our KS2 choir will have a place at the re-scheduled 25th Anniversary Concerts for Wednesday 9th June 2021. They are in talks at the moment to secure potential postponement dates – they’ll let us know once they have them.
Virtual Concert – we have a special invitation to a virtual concert being held at 3pm on Tuesday 2nd February 2021. This concert will be streamed LIVE and our choir will take part in the safety of our school, making this the perfect mini school concert for parents and family. A few select songs from the Music Pack will be chosen and identified for us.
YV Celebratory 25th Anniversary Music Pack which includes: An amazing repertoire of 25th Anniversary songs, sheet music, song lyrics, conductors notes plus CDs with full songs and backing tracks and a DVD containing all the dance moves.
YV’s Biggest Sing, to be sung during the virtual concert our children will be part of an attempt to break the record for the largest number of people singing simultaneously to celebrate 25 years of Young Voices, (they are currently in the process of selecting THE song from the short-list of amazing songs).
YVatHome, full access to the online YVatHome experience (only available to registered schools and their choirs as of September 2020).
Mr Rew has asked me to give you access to the Young Voices songs to learn at home. They have made them available on their website much earlier than usual.
