Bug Hotels and … Beautiful Butterflies

On Thursday, Mrs Land and the Brainy Badgers spent the afternoon in Forest School busily preparing a bug Hotel to keep the minibeasts of the forest comfortable and cosy for the colder, winter months. The children enjoyed it so much, that several have gone home and created their own bug Hotel in their back garden. The creep, crawlies of Wadworth don’t know how lucky they are!

Year 6 Mathematicians have been using protractors and rulers accurately to improve their ability to draw, measure and calculate angles to draw some beautiful butterfly designs. They have also used a computer program called Scratch to write algorithms to get the computer to draw similar butterflies using their knowledge of exterior angles and properties of regular polygons.
