PTA Break the Rules Day and Year 6 Disco

The last week of term was a busy week for the PTA, who organised and prepared the food for the Year 6 Maypole disco on Thursday and The PTA ‘Break The Rules Day’ on Friday. Both events were a success and the children seemed to really enjoy them. They raised an impressive £393 and were awarded a certificate by Miss Krasauskas on Friday, along with staff and pupils, for all their hard work.

Easter Parade

Well done to all the children (and parents/carers) who made easter bonnets to wear to the parade today. The weather looked like it was going to do its best to spoil the day, however the sun came out in the afternoon so we took the opportunity to gather outside and cheer one another on.

The children stayed in socially distant bubbles on the playground, and for many it will be the first time they will have seen children outside their bubble for just over a year. It was brilliant seeing the whole school together and celebrating with one another-a real morale boost.

As ever, Active Fusion aims to follow very strict Covid procedures and risk assessments throughout the camps. Coaches are being regularly tested in their schools and will continue to test during the holidays.

We will also have a virtual ‘Easter PE’ timetable, allowing children to stay active at home during half-term. The timetable includes virtual PE lessons, active challenges and fitness sessions aimed at keeping children mentally and physically stimulated.

New family testing scheme

The government has confirmed twice-weekly testing using rapid lateral flow tests will be given for free to all families and households with primary, secondary school and college aged children and young people, including childcare and support bubbles, to help find more COVID-19 cases and break chains of transmission. Twice-weekly testing will also be offered to adults working in the wider school community, including bus drivers and after school club leaders.

Tests are available for adults in these households to collect. As with student testing, this is encouraged but not mandatory.  Getting a rapid test is quick and convenient. The expanded regular testing offer for people without symptoms will be delivered through:

testing in-person via workplace testing

local authority test sites

collection at a local PCR test site during specific test collection time windows

a new home ordering service, which will allow people to order lateral flow tests online to be delivered to their home

School Closure

Wadworth is closed today due to treacherous driving conditions and staff not being able to get in. Weather forecast says snow to continue until about 11am, then should clear. Expecting to be open tomorrow to Frogs, Hedgehogs, Badgers and Bees.

Online learning will continue as normal today.

Doncaster Maths Contest

Mr Robson has entered the school into the Doncaster Sumdog competition which begins on Friday 22nd January until Thursday 28th January.

How do we take part?

To take part, students play Sumdog’s free maths games. In each game, they need to answer maths questions to make progress. They can choose which game they play, while Sumdog automatically adapts its questions. Each correct answer they give counts toward their score. During the contest period, students who are entered will see the contest activity on their homepage. Any games they play when this is showing will count towards their score. They can play any time, either at home or at school.

School closed on Friday 15th January

I am writing to confirm that due to treacherous conditions following the heavy snow today, school will be closed on Friday 15th January. Teaching staff will still be online at scheduled times delivering remote learning, so please make sure you child logs on to Google Classroom with their login details and carries on learning.
